Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our last day of school before the holiday break is this Friday, December 22. As part of our school-wide celebrations Friday, all students are welcome to stay for lunch and eat lunch in their classrooms with their teachers.

Ms. Pfneisl, our amazing nutrition co-ordinator, has arranged for ham/turkey subs, festive ambrosia salad, chocolate milk and sugar cookies to be served, free of charge, to all of our Rosemont students! This will be a lunch that students can enjoy in their classroom with their teachers and other staff who work with them. If your son/daughter prefers to bring a lunch from home that day or you would rather they come home for lunch that is fine, just let your child’s classroom teacher know. Students will be dismissed at 2:30 on December 22 for the holiday break.

Beginning on January 8, we will be moving our afternoon recess from 2:15-2:30 when it currently occurs, to 3:22-3:37. Students will be dismissed with their backpacks and belongings to the playground at 3:22 where they can engage in supervised play prior to returning home. Students who are involved in the Solid Futures Before and After School programming will come back into the school following the 3:22-3:37 recess to participate in Before and After.

We are experimenting with this move in an effort to maximize instructional time in the afternoon and to attempt to minimize playground conflicts in the afternoon. We will collect data on the success of this change which will be shared with our School Community Council. This recess change has been approved by the Regina Public Schools Administrative Council Executive.

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday break. School resumes on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Sincerely,

Hillary Ibbott Neiszner

Principal, Rosemont Community School
