Return to In-Person Classes

As we return to in-person learning next week on Monday, May 3, we would like to review our safety procedures and routines that we have in place.

Prior to remote learning, our families were doing a great job ensuring that students who were ill stayed home.  We appreciate this and ask that you continue with this great work!  Your efforts in this are part of what help to keep our students, staff and Rosemont families as safe.  Please check in with your child each morning before school and if they are showing any symptoms they need to remain at home until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.  Please contact 811 if your child is showing any Covid-19 symptoms.

Student Illness

If a child is showing any symptoms while at school, parents will be contacted and your child must be picked up immediately.  We will continue to be diligent about ensuring students who are feeling ill are sent home.  Please have a student pick-up plan in case this should happen.  The student will then be marked excused for the following 48hours.  Should they need to stay home beyond that time, please contact the school.  It is imperative that we have up to date contact information – phone numbers and email.  Contact us at 306-791-8466 or at Rosemont@rbe.sk.ca to update information.

We will review our safety plan with students upon their return next week.  Mask usage, front facing instruction with assigned seating, regular handwashing and sanitizing, disinfecting spaces, and as much as we are able individualized materials will be maintained.  Students will be asked to change masks regularly throughout the day- after any outdoor time, after lunch, or if the mask becomes compromised in any way.  Please send extras with your child, and know we also have ample disposable masks on hand for all students.

Reminders and Updates

As weather continues to be warmer we will spend as much time outside as possible.  We may organize outdoor lunch periods as well as outdoor work periods as much as possible.  Two water bottle filling stations were installed this year to ensure students could safely refill them throughout the day.  Please ensure your child has a labelled water bottle at school.

Please send your child with a hat, water bottle and sunscreen.  During lunch students will be removing their masks to eat and this presents a higher risk time period of the day.  If your child is able to go home for lunch, we encourage them to do so.

Thank you for ensuring homework and lunches are organized prior to your child coming to school.  Should you need to drop something off during the day, please come do not enter the school.  There is signage at the front door so that asks you to knock and we will come to meet you.  Additional questions or concerns can be emailed to us or please call directly (306)791-8466.

Process for Possible Cases

Should we experience a positive case of Covid-19 at Rosemont, we will continue to follow the same protocols we have since the beginning of the year.  We receive confirmation from Saskatchewan Health Authority and contact parents of students who may be deemed as close contacts.  We follow the direction of SHA and provide guidance is self-isolation is necessary.  We always inform parents of the classes involved prior to Regina Public Schools notifying the public.

Return of Technology

Finally, for families who have borrowed technology from us during remote learning, we ask that all devices, along with chargers, are returned before 3pm on Friday, April 30.  This will allow us ample time to ensure each device is properly sanitized and returned to the classroom ready for Monday morning.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as well all navigate our way through learning in such remarkable months.  Our staff continues to be very grateful for the way our students and families have supported our measures to keep our students and staff safe within our school.

On behalf of the staff and students at Rosemont Community School,

Ms. D Exner & Mrs. Truong
